| This site was our experience of the dot.com boom. The concept of the site was to develop a business to business portal, providing the music industry with a platform for showcasing unsigned artists. Music was streamed through real player so bands could be presented to the worldwide Music Industry. The financial model was to generate music from signings, as one contract could potentially see the site clear for up to six months. If several contracts were realised the margin for profit would be considerable.
The history of this business was also very interesting. The site was first designed when Musicunsigned were nothing more than a small company based in a portable cabin in Aroon Maharajah's back Garden. As the interest in the site grew over the subsequent two years, Musicunsigned's value rose to £60 million. A new site was built for the Cannes Music festival as well as a feature slot on BBC's Panorama. Offers began to stream in from potential buyers as the music industries top player began to panic about being behind the technical curve. However with the problems of the floatation of Lastminute.com, interest began to wane, until Musicunsigned finally ceased trading six months later.
